State Level Laws of Life Winner

Thomasville City Schools ninth grader Faith Fitzgerald is the Thomasville High School and Scholars Academy school-wide winner and state-level 3rd place winner in the Georgia Rotary Club Laws of Life Essay Contest.  English Department Head Rebecca Ramsey reports that THS and Scholars Academy has participated in the essay contest for a number of years, and this is the first time the school has achieved state-level recognition. Rotarians read over 44,000 essays that were submitted this year to the contest that is open to students in grades 9th-12th.  Fitzgerald’s essay will be published on the contest website and in the brochure used to advertise next year's contest.  Additionally, she is awarded $100 for being the school winner and $500 as the 3rd place finisher in the state.

According to georgialawsoflife.org, a β€˜Law of Life’ is a short, pithy saying or quotation that points to a core personal value or ideal. Oftentimes, a Law of Life serves as a memorable and meaningful moral compass on a person’s journey through life.  The Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest asks students to select their own Law of Life, and to write about how it applies to their lives. In doing so, students reflect deeply and write from the heart about what they think matters most. The contest celebrates the students’ stories and their often profound reflections, and proudly presents significant cash awards to students and teachers.
