Thomasville City Schools proudly welcomed home Odyssey of the Mind World Champions! Friends and family came out to Veterans Memorial Stadium parking lot late in the evening on Wednesday, May 29 evening at 9 p.m. to cheer, wave signs, and launch silly string to celebrate the prestigious championship for Thomasville City Schools. They brought home a huge trophy and even bigger bragging rights! Their long-term problem solution of holding 775 pounds with a 15 gram balsa-wood, student-built structure advanced them to compete at the OM World Finals in East Lansing, Michigan on May 22-25, 2019. The TCS OM program advanced six out of nine teams from the elementary, middle, and high school levels to the OM State Finals in Columbus, Georgia and brought home a 1st place win, the Ranatra Fusca Award for "extreme creativity," and status of WORLD FINALISTS for one high school team.
