THS Parents and Students,
Earlier today it was announced that Thomasville City Schools will be closed for 2 weeks beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 and reopening Monday, March 30, 2020 in accordance with guidance received from the Governor’s office and other state agencies.
In an effort to avoid interruptions in learning, THS teachers are preparing “digital learning” and/or “distance learning” assignments for students to complete over the next two weeks. It is essential that students complete these assignments as they will be graded as any other assignments at school, and assessments may follow after returning to school that will include those curriculum topics.
Each teacher will prepare appropriate curriculum-based assignments for each of their classes and those assignments will be communicated via several platforms including: parent emails, student emails, Google Classroom, District/School teacher websites, THS Facebook/Social media pages.

Additionally, printed versions of the assignments will be made available on Monday, March 16 from 2PM- 4PM and Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 8 AM- 4PM outside the main entrance to Thomasville High School.
Access to Teachers/Communication with Teachers
Teachers will be available during normal school hours (8 AM – 3 PM) Monday through Friday to communicate by email with any parents or students. Please understand that teachers will be communicating with many people, so there may be a delay in response. Please be aware teachers will not be at school, so please do not come to the school for any reason other than to pick up printed copies of work on Monday afternoon or Tuesday (if you can’t access them online).

Athletic Events/Practice/Field Trips
All athletic events, practices, and field trips are cancelled for the period of the school closure. Please continue to monitor communications from the district regarding events beyond March 30, 2020.
Prom
Prom was originally scheduled to be held March 28, 2020. This event has been postponed. Date/Time/Location to be determined. We will communicate the plans when they have been finalized.
Breakfast and Lunch
Thomasville City Schools will have a feeding program consisting of a grab and go breakfast and lunch at Harper Elementary School and Scott Elementary School between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM daily M-F. Bag lunches and grab and go breakfast for the next day will be delivered to various locations around the city. Please see the announcement below for the specific locations.
Additional information will be sent via email on Monday, March 16, 2020 and possibly on following days. Please follow the advice of health and government officials to help us slow down and avoid the spread of Covid-19 through our state and communities. Avoid gatherings of people, stay home if you are sick, wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and clean surfaces regularly with a disinfectant.
It is essential that we all remain flexible and work together to ensure a meaningful educational experience for the students of Thomasville High School.
